Yossi came by a couple of weeks ago to collect his new bouzouki. It’s a Cedar / Rosewood SBB with a scale length of 628mm. When Yossi came over to the UK at the beginning of the year to see me about his bouzouki, he was very clear about many of the other details for the new instrument. Ergonomically he wanted it to match the instrument he’d been playing for many years – which is fair enough, if you find it comfortable and are physically used to an instrument then why change those aspects that you’re happy with. So the fingerboard width and neck profile needed to match, as did the string spacing at the nut and bridge. But the rest is a standard SBB in Cedar and Rosewood and it sounds lovely.
Here’s what Yossi had to say….
“Got my new Tobin bouzouki two weeks ago and I am a happy man – this instrument is everything I hoped it would be and more. Amazing big sound, great even sound of high and low notes, easy to play, beautiful, but maybe most importantly: has this real hard to explain bouzouki ring and sound color to it. so glad I chose cedar for the top board.”
